That roadside Kwik Trip full of fast and easy food is calling your name. But what should you get? Well, our staff tried a bunch of Kwik Trip food. Consider our highly subjective rankings of the good, the bad and the ugly when you make your next pit stop. One nearly universal attribute: This stuff is salty.
Really good!
Sausage, Egg & Cheese Maple Waffle Sandwich
Hot diggity, this breakfast sandwich fights way above its weight class. Tasty and a little addictive, with that maple flavor. Absolutely blows McDonald’s breakfast offerings out of the water. Note: This is KT’s best breakfast sandwich option, but if maple is a deal-breaker, choose the croissant sandwich over the mediocre burrito.
Chicken Tenders
A clear winner. These thick fried babies were crunchy from the light breading, flavorful and had a lot of meat to them without being too chewy.
Chicken Wings
Whether you’re getting garlic parmesan or sweet and spicy, the wings (like much of Kwik Trip’s chicken) stand out from the fried food pack. The breading somehow manages to not get soggy despite sitting for, presumably, quite a while in the thick, flavorful sauce that coats these.
Not bad!
Corn Dog
What more can be said about the humble dog of corn? KT’s version is a simple, rustic winner that is exactly what you would expect.
Mashed Potatoes
Are you nostalgic for the kind of deliciously pedestrian taters of your childhood cafeteria? Kwik Trip delivers. A worthy side to any KT main course.
Pork Rib Sandwich
Objectively, this isn’t amazing – but it also is satisfying in that unnatural (possibly unholy) McRib kind of way.
Cheese-Filled Breadstick
You ever have a Bosco stick? That’s exactly the kind of bready, gooey, straight-off-the-assembly-line thing we’re dealing with here – but with a little more salt. For the record, that’s a beautiful thing.
Glazers
When it comes to Kwik Trip’s housemade doughnuts, the OG is the way to go – a box of plain raised-dough Glazers. The Dunkers cake doughnut varieties veer into obvious artificial flavorings.
Take-Home Chicken Enchilada Bowl
There’s a whole line of take-home microwavable stuff you can try, and this is one of the better options available. But also, it’s a microwavable take-home enchilada bowl, so you kinda know what you’re getting into, right?
Urge! Kettle Chips
Kwik Trip’s house brand Urge! chips (great name) come in a bunch of varieties, many of them worthy snacks, but the kettle chips get the blue ribbon. (Sadly, we missed out on the limited edition Gas Station Roller Dog flavor.)
Look at a heat map of Kwik Trip locations in Wisconsin, and there’s a big, obvious, glaring dead zone. The chain doesn’t have a single location in Milwaukee. The nearest Kwik Trip to Downtown is on Lapham Street at Highway 100 in West Allis, about 7 miles away…
