MILWAUKEE — A man from Wisconsin faces a federal felony charge after kidnapping his children and taking them to South Africa.
41-year-old Clyde Lewis-Springfield is accused of international parental kidnapping. According to the criminal complaint, he left the US with his four children–then aged 13, 13, 16, and 18 years old–on October 29, 2021, and failed to return with them on November 3, 2021.
Records showed that Lewis-Springfield took his children to South Africa to join The Cradle of Hope religious cult and did not return with them on a planned scheduled flight. The children’s mother, who shared custody with Lewis-Springfield, was not aware they were not in school or had left the country…
