Parents sue school for allegedly locking students in dark, scary ‘dungeon’ as punishment

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WKRC) – A group of parents filed a lawsuit against an elementary school after learning their children had allegedly been locked in a pitch-black boiler room without shoes called the “dungeon” as a punishment.

The parents said they learned multiple staff members at Thurston Woods School, which services K4 through 8th grade students, sent their children to the school’s completely dark boiler room with the intent of scaring them if they misbehaved, according to a legal complaint obtained by Law&Crime.

“When asked about ‘the dungeon’ by their parents, some students would become so scared, stressed and upset that they would begin to cry,” the complaint read. “Students experienced sleep issues, nightmares and waking up crying during the night because of fear of ‘the dungeon.'”…
