After more than three months of restoration and rebuilding, Glorioso’s Italian Market is preparing to welcome customers back through its doors at 1011 E. Brady St.
The iconic Italian grocer, which has been closed since an Oct. 3 fire, is targeting a soft opening beginning Jan. 7, with catering orders resuming Jan. 18, according to co-owner Carmine Presta. A Grand Re-Opening Celebration will follow from Jan. 19 through Feb. 28, coinciding with Glorioso’s 80th anniversary.
“It’s been heartbreaking to be closed, especially during the holidays,” Presta says. “December is the busiest part of the year for us. We know we’re part of families’ celebrations, and we did everything we could to reopen as quickly as possible.”
Careful restoration
The fire, which was caused by an electrical short on the building’s second floor, originated in the store’s IT room, which controls operations throughout the market.
