MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The city of Milwaukee has been awarded an $8 million federal grant to fund safety improvements on North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and West Forest Home Avenue, officials announced in a Monday, Jan. 12 press release.
The Safe Streets and Roads for All Implementation Grant will be used to reduce speeding and improve safety for all roadway users, with a focus on making streets safer for children, according to the city. The total project budget is $10 million, which includes a $2 million local match from the city.
The project will address a 1.7-mile segment of MLK Dr. between N. 7th Street and West North Ave. and a 1-mile segment of Forest Home Avenue from W. Historic Mitchell Street to W. Lincoln Ave. Both segments are part of the city’s High Injury Network…
