A Milwaukee tragedy has reached the public eye after a 21-year-old man, Cameron Washington, was charged with arson and recklessly endangering safety in a fire that left his pregnant girlfriend dead. According to a criminal complaint cited by WISN, police responded to a “subject with weapon” complaint on Jan. 5, discovering the residence ablaze. Inside, officers located Gladys Johnson, Washington’s pregnant girlfriend, unresponsive in the burning bedroom.

Returning in the evening, she was prevented by Washington from entering the room where her daughter rested, or so she was told. As per CBS 58, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide, yet Washington has not been charged in Johnson’s death.
