Multiple critical injuries after Milwaukee apartment fire breaks out in building with no sprinklers

MILWAUKEE — After a fire broke out Tuesday in a Milwaukee apartment complex with no sprinkler system, city leaders are once again calling for legislative change.

On Tuesday at 1:37 p.m., a 9-1-1 call came in that a fire had broken out at the Hampton Gardens Apartments, located at 4821 North 22nd Street in Milwakuee.

Upon arrival, fire crews reported people were hanging out of windows on the second and third floors. Multiple ladder rescues were made; fire crews also rescued people inside the building and got them outdoors to safety…
