When Shaka Smart was named the new head coach of Marquette back in 2021, it signaled a shift in their identity and culture. After years of underachieving with no real identity under Steve Wojciechowski, the move to Shaka Smart showed that the Golden Eagles would refuse to accept mediocrity.
Unfortunately, this season has seen Marquette play at multiple levels below mediocrity, which is why they need to part ways with Shaka Smart.
