Non-invasive procedure to help calm tremors now offered in Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE — A non-invasive procedure to help calm tremors in some patients is now offered in the Milwaukee area.

Dr. Kunal Gupta, a neurosurgeon with Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, said the treatment has been available elsewhere for the past five to eight years. However, he said it has only been performed in Wisconsin for around the last six months.

An MR-guided focused ultrasound combines two technologies to treat people with essential tremor and for some people with Parkinson’s-related tremors.
