My wife and I made some big changes to our home recently. We had to convert my office into a nursery as we await the arrival of a new child. Part of the process included replacing the closet doors in the soon-to-be nursery. Each bedroom in the house had sliding closet doors that were old and weren’t incredibly useful. We needed to save space, so we moved a dresser into the closet and, rather than leave the closet without doors, we wanted to put hinged doors on.
To do so, I took down the tracks and doors for the old closets, and we went to the store and purchased new closet doors for each bedroom. We figured we might as well just knock them all out at once if we were going to do it. We bought traditional 24″ wide closet doors. But because they were previously sliding doors, they overlapped for about an inch. So each one of the doors we’d purchased was an inch too big to fit perfectly in the door…
