Oak Creek Aide Accused Of Ripping Off Franklin Memory Care Resident Pleads Not Guilty

An employee at a Franklin memory care facility is accused of stealing from a resident, but he is fighting the charges in court. Fifty-two-year-old Bryant Moss of Oak Creek, who worked at Franklin Place Memory Care, was arrested on Feb. 10 while on shift and has pleaded not guilty in Milwaukee County court. He is currently out on bond and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on March 6.

Family Finds Phone, Rings Gone

The case started after a family reported in October 2025 that several valuables had vanished from their mother’s room. Missing were a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and two gold rings: a wedding band set with eight to nine diamonds and an engagement ring. The family later spotted suspicious activity on a resident’s card. According to the criminal complaint, there were attempted purchases on Jan. 12, including a $507.95 charge at a Walgreens and smaller pending transactions at a Villard Petro Mart and a McDonald’s location before the card was canceled, according to WTMJ News.

Video Trail And EcoATM Records

Investigators say surveillance footage from a Walgreens and a Villard Petro Mart captured a man matching Moss getting into a black SUV. Milwaukee County Transit System bus video then helped place that vehicle near those businesses on Jan. 12. Records from an EcoATM kiosk at a Pick ‘n Save in Oak Creek showed the missing phone was traded in for cash and that the person who completed the transaction provided a driver’s license and had their photo taken, according to FOX6.

On-Shift Arrest And Not-Guilty Plea

Moss was taken into custody on Feb. 10 while working at Franklin Place Memory Care. He initially told detectives he had found the phone in a common staff area, the complaint states, but later admitted trading it for cash. Moss pleaded not guilty during his initial court appearance and was released on a $2,500 signature bond, with a preliminary hearing set for March 6, according to WTMJ News.

Felony Charges And What Comes Next

Prosecutors have charged Moss with misappropriating identification information to obtain money from an elderly or disabled person and theft of movable property. Both charges are felonies that draw particular scrutiny when the alleged victim is especially vulnerable. The case is moving forward in Milwaukee County circuit court, with the next hearing scheduled for March 6, according to FOX6…
