Ronnell Bowman and Lawrence Turner were convicted by a federal jury yesterday for their roles in a 2021 murder-for-hire plot that was financed through a massive COVID-19 relief fraud scheme. The verdict, announced by U.S. Attorney Brad D. Schimel, concluded a week-long trial in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Both men were found guilty of murder for hire resulting in death, conspiracy to commit the same, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. Bowman, a resident of both Milwaukee and Houston, was also convicted of conspiring to violate federal firearm laws, attempted witness tampering, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
The prosecution presented evidence showing that between March 15 and April 5, 2021, Bowman and Turner—both members of the “Wild 100s” gang—orchestrated the killing of a man identified as N.B.
