A Sunday evening fight at S. 14th Street and W. Burnham on Milwaukee’s south side escalated into gunfire, sending police racing to the busy intersection but leaving no one injured, authorities said.
Milwaukee police said officers responded around 6:16 p.m. after callers reported both a physical fight and shots fired. During the altercation between two people, one person pulled out a gun and fired. No one was hit, and the shooter took off, prompting a police search in and around the McDonald’s at the corner.
Intersection Already on Edge
Neighbors around 14th and Burnham have had more than their share of sirens and squad cars in recent years. A mass shooting in August 2023 wounded nine people, according to WISN, rattling residents and nearby businesses.
Then in December 2024, the long-vacant McDonald’s at the intersection went up in flames, per the vacant McDonald’s fire. No injuries were reported in that blaze, but the charred property has remained a visible reminder of trouble at the corner…
