Grandfather Killed While Fixing Truck as Wisconsin Bus Driver Falls Asleep Behind the Wheel

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A Wisconsin bus driver will spend two years in prison after falling asleep behind the wheel and striking a 79-year-old pedestrian on Christmas Day, a tragic crash that investigators say was captured on surveillance cameras inside the bus.

Montrell Pharm, 53, pleaded no contest to homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and reckless driving causing great bodily harm earlier this year. On Thursday, Milwaukee County Judge David Swanson sentenced Pharm to two years in prison on each count, with both sentences running at the same time.
