MILWAUKEE – A 48-year-old Milwaukee woman accused of setting fire inside an apartment building near 22nd and Hampton on Jan. 13 was found incompetent to proceed during a court hearing on Monday, March 23.
The accused, Laquita Spears, is charged with arson of a building and first-degree recklessly endangering safety (two counts).
During Monday’s hearing, the court said if provided with appropriate treatment, she is likely to become competent within the statutory time frame. At this time, all court proceedings have been suspended. A doctor’s report is due in June.
