Two of the three beaches at Bde Maka Ska and one beach on Lake Hiawatha are closed due to high levels of E. coli detected by a weekly reading by Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) staff.
The North Beach, 32nd Street Beach, and Hiawatha Beach were all tested on June 29 when samples came back with levels of E. coli in the water beyond what is allowed by state guidelines.
Staff will retest the water and reopen the beaches when the water returns to safe bacterial levels. Closed signs are posted at the affected beaches and are expected to remain in place through the 4th of July weekend…
