Severe storms: Damaging winds, hail, tornadoes and flash flooding all in play Wednesday

Another round of potentially damaging severe thunderstorms is bearing down on Minnesota, with all the major hazards in play.

A large swath of southern Minnesota including much of the Twin Cities metro remains in the enhanced risk zone for severe thunderstorms, with the National Weather Service warning: “Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, however a few tornadoes and instances of flash flooding are also possible.”

A storm has been making its way east through Minnesota on Wednesday morning, bringing 40 mph wind gusts and pea-sized hail and prompting the NWS to issue special weather statements as it moved north from the Minnesota-Iowa border towards the Twin Cities…
