While thunderstorms forced numerous cities in Minnesota to postpone or cancel fireworks displays on the Fourth of July, a different issue prevented the City of Rochester from fulfilling its plan to light up the sky at the annual 4th Fest celebration.
What happened? With storms that disrupted plan in the Twin Cities moving southeast towards Rochester, the city announced at 7:20 p.m. that the 10 p.m. fireworks were being moved up to 9:30 p.m. to avoid the inclement weather. The show started out just fine before abrubtly ending, with city officials later explaining that a “technical issue” was to blame.
“We recognize the disappointment experienced by community members and visitors when the fireworks show did not unfold as planned,” the city announced Sunday in a letter publicly apologizing for the issue…
