Minnesota AG sues Fridley vaping company Loon over kid-friendly flavors, misleading FDA claims

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Valley News Live) – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed a lawsuit against Loon, a Fridley-based vaping company, alleging it illegally marketed dozens of nicotine vape products with candy and dessert flavors designed to appeal to children, and misled consumers about whether its products had been approved by federal health regulators.

The lawsuit, filed in Ramsey County District Court, names Maduro Distributors, Inc., which does business as Loon, and accuses the company of violating Minnesota’s consumer protection laws and a 2024 state law specifically designed to prevent vaping companies from targeting youth.

According to the complaint, Loon marketed and sold vapes with flavors including cotton candy, strawberry popsicle, blue razz slushy, and banana taffy, treats commonly associated with children. The company also sold products named after characters and creatures known to appeal to minors, including “Bowzer Berry,” a product the lawsuit says references Bowser from Nintendo’s Super Mario franchise, as well as products named “Frankenstein” and “Dragon’s Blood.”…
