Just 17 months after owner Kim Jurek-Valanzasca moved her longtime south Minneapolis boutique from Kingfield to 50th & France, she’s making another move—this time, within the neighborhood. The move is all about making more room for what’s already working.
The Fitting Room, known for its curated mix of clothing, jewelry, hats, handbags, and accessories by Minnesota designers, will trade its current Nolan Mains digs for a footprint roughly four times the size. “We have loved being in the 50th & France district for the last 17 months, and our place in Nolan Mains has been an amazing way to start here,” says Jurek-Valanzasca. “We have truly felt welcomed here, and our business has grown so much.”
When the larger space (previously home to Wow Bar and Denny Kemp Salon) became available, she saw an opportunity to expand not only the shop’s assortment but The Fitting Room’s role as a gathering place for the local fashion community. “I love the iconic building, and the opportunity to have more designers, services, and our events all within our shop was such a tantalizing idea,” she says…
