The rising cost of funerals is putting a financial strain on families.
Funeral and burial prices are up about 70% over the past two decades. A single traditional funeral and burial can easily top $15,000, while a funeral with cremation typically costs around $6,000.
“Preplanning is the most important part in keeping costs down,” said Amanda Thoreson, executive director of Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville. “It’s OK to say, ‘Mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, I’m not ready for you to pass. I don’t want to think about that, but I do want to know when the time comes that we have carried out your wishes based on what you would have wanted.’”…
