Chefs and restaurants in the running for this year’s James Beard Foundation awards include seven from the Twin Cities.
The 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards semifinalists were announced Wednesday, with Daniel del Prado of Porzana, Marc Heu of Marc Heu Pâtisserie Paris, Oro by Nixta, and Meteor Bar in the running for national awards.
This year, five of the 22 categories feature one or more semifinalists from the Twin Cities area.
The 2024 nominees are as follows:
- Outstanding Chef: Daniel del Prado of Porzana in Minneapolis .
- Best New Restaurant: Oro by Nixta in Minneapolis
- Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker: Marc Heu of Marc Heu Pâtisserie Paris in St. Paul .
- Outstanding Bar: Meteor in Minneapolis
The Best Chef: Midwest category includes three nominees from the Twin Cities.
- Ann Ahmed of Khâluna in Minneapolis.
- Christina Nguyen of Hai Hai in Minneapolis.
- Karyn Tomlinson of Myriel in St. Paul
Ahmed is a second-time nominee in the Best Chef: Midwest category, having received her first nomination last year.
