A 47-year-old Robbinsdale man has been identified as the victim of a North Minneapolis shooting, which officials say stemmed from an altercation.
Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to a shooting on the 2000 block of Washington Avenue North at around 11:50 p.m Wednesday.
Around five minutes later, a man was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with “at least one” life-threatening gunshot wound,” according to MPD. He later died at North Memorial hospital.
MPD stated that “preliminary information indicates that an altercation escalated to gunfire.”
The man has since been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner as Carnell Russell, 47, of Robbinsdale. His cause of death was reported to be a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police scanner account MN Crime reports that the shooting is believed to have happened in the vicinity of Cliff N’ Norm’s Bar. The medical examiner also listed the bar’s address as the location of Russell’s injury.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
