After brief closure, Soderberg’s Floral reopens after ownership change

A popular floral shop along Lake Street in south Minneapolis isn’t gone for good after all.

Heather Serr, with Soderberg’s Floral & Gift, confirmed to Bring Me The News the business has reopened as of Friday under new ownership.

The store announced its closure at the end of 2023, but said in an announcement on its website at the time, “We hope to be back real soon!”

“We have staff in the shop ready to help walk in customers, answer phones, and continue serving our community,” Serr said, adding the company is excited to be open in time for Valentine’s Day next month.

BMTN has been told John Pope is the new owner. We reached out to Pope for more details on the new ownership Monday but have yet to hear back.

The shop has a rich history on the south side of Minneapolis , as it initially opened at 2707 E. Lake St. in 1925. It then moved to its current location at 3305 E. Lake St. in 1932. Harry and Mildred Soderberg ran operations until 1976, when it was sold to Lyle and Carol Blair, who worked at the shop. They owned the store for the next 29 years.
