Twin Cities to get a fourth Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant

A recent arrival to the Twin Cities, Dave’s Hot Chicken is rapidly expanding, with a third metro location set to open in the space of a year.

The Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce announced on social media that Dave’s Hot Chicken will move into the former Dairy Queen space at 7720 149th St. W., near a McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Panda Express.

No official opening date has been announced as of Wednesday.

The first Dave’s Hot Chicken opened in Minnetonka in early 2023 and plans for other locations in St. Paul and Maple Grove have also been revealed.

The franchise is owned by Kris Humphries, former NBA player, Gophers star and Hopkins High School grad. He and his family announced in 2022 plans to open 16 Dave’s Hot Chicken locations in Minnesota.

The chain was started by four friends in Hollywood in 2017, and has since blown up, attracting attention from the likes of Drake and expanding to numerous states via franchising — with over 100 locations and counting.
