A Bloomington man pleaded guilty on Friday to charges related to a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Jesus Martinez Salazar, 32, admitted to conspiring with co-defendant Derrick Dammons, 45, of Minneapolis, to sell 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer on January 10, 2023.
According to detailed court documents, Dammons first retrieved the sizable quantity of methamphetamine from Martinez Salazar’s residence in Bloomington before driving to meet the undercover officer to conduct the $3,750 transaction. After the successful sale, the two suspects divided up the cash proceeds between themselves.
Dammons had previously pleaded guilty on December 7, 2023 to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine for his role in the criminal scheme.
Due to a prior felony drug distribution conviction from 2015, Martinez Salazar now faces a lengthy mandatory minimum 15-year prison sentence under federal law. His sentencing hearing date has not yet been scheduled by the court.
