Minnesota’s Strange Winter Continues: Warm Temperatures/Rain on Tap This Week

TWIN CITIES, MINNESOTA – There is no need to get out the snowblowers or the parkas in Minnesota; the forecast calls for warmer temps, highs in the middle 50s, and rain later in the week. Maybe the Easter Bunny is coming early this year?

Right now, the Twin Cities has gotten around 7 inches of snow this winter season, and we currently have no signs of big snowstorms on the horizon. The system coming later in the week might give us some snowflakes, but it will mostly fall as good old-fashioned rain on Thursday-Thursday night.

Here’s a look at what the GFS is showing for precipitation totals. Not much, but it will be better than nothing, considering how dry of a winter we have had!

Once this system works out of the region, a little cool down is forecast across Minnesota, but nothing over the top just yet, and we will still probably have above-average temperatures for this time of year!

A few weather models are showing a bigger cool-down once we get into the 2nd half of February, but at this point, confidence is low.
