A man who police say was attempting to rob the driver of a Mercedes sedan in Minneapolis on Friday afternoon has died after being shot.
The driver of the Mercedes, which also contained a 2-year-old child, turned up at North Memorial Medical Center having suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident, which happened around 3:35 p.m. on the 2400 block of Golden Valley Road.
Minneapolis Police Department, citing “preliminary information,” says that two men approached the Mercedes, which was occupied by the driver and child, in an alleyway.
“A short time later, gunfire erupted,” police continued, with one of the two men who approached the vehicle dying at the scene. The other man, a 21-year-old, was arrested.
The man who died was in his 20s, and hasn’t yet been identified.
There is no update on the condition of the Mercedes driver. The 2-year-old was not injured in the incident.
Police say the Mercedes was damaged by gunfire, with investigators now working to determine if any shots were fired from inside the vehicle.
