Troy Macon, a U.S. Army veteran and former security worker, now works as a bus operator at Metro Transit. He was inspired by his uncle, a bus operator in Chicago, and joined Metro Transit in 2016. His Army experience of operating large vehicles was beneficial in his transition to bus operations. Macon enjoys interacting with the diverse passengers he meets on the job.
Macon’s job at Metro Transit has provided stability for his family life. He and his wife have raised a family, including foster children they took in following a relative’s death. Many of these children are now the first in their family to attend college, which Macon believes is due to the stability his job offers.
Macon’s nephew recently joined Metro Transit’s rail department, continuing the family tradition of working in transit.
Metro Transit is hiring and invites those interested in becoming a bus or train operator to attend an information session. No prior experience is required for these positions.
