Assault at Applebee’s: Employee Attacked by Disorderly Customer

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA – Apple Valley Police were dispatched to a reported assault at the Applebee’s in Apple Valley, Minnesota, around 12:41 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2024.

According to the criminal complaint released by the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, an employee of the restaurant went to talk to a table of five individuals who were being loud and disorderly. Afterward, the employee returned to the kitchen and was followed by a female from the table. The female grabbed the employee, violently pulled on their hair, and struck them several times in the head. The female then fled the restaurant following the assault.

Officers with the Apple Valley Police Department found the female nearby, who stated she came from the restaurant but had nothing to do with an assault. The female provided a false name when asked initially by the police who she was. She would later be identified as 18-year-old Davanee Berry of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Employees with the restaurant were able to provide authorities with surveillance video of the assault.
