Professional figure skater Anastasia Olson, aged 31, suffered an injury on Saturday while executing a lift in her role as Belle during Disney on Ice’s presentation of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Confirming the incident, officials report that a Disney on Ice skater is now in “serious condition” after a fall occurred during a performance in Minnesota.
Anastasia Olson, aged 31, who portrays Princess Belle in Disney on Ice’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast, was injured during the 11 a.m. show at Target Center in Minneapolis and promptly transported to the hospital.
A spokesperson from Feld Entertainment, Disney on Ice’s parent company, conveyed that the skater portraying Belle was injured while performing a lift in the pair skating part of the routine and fell. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Hennepin County Medical Center officials inform that as of Monday afternoon, Olson is in “serious condition.”
Despite the unfortunate incident, the show continued as scheduled. A spectator named Beka shared that the medical emergency occurred about 40 minutes into the show, emphasizing gratitude for the staff and performers who persevered for the sake of the children’s magical experience.
