A 16-year-old Central Senior High School student has been charged after he brought a gun to campus this week.
A juvenile petition filed against the boy says officers were called to the St. Paul school just after 2:20 p.m., having been provided a photo posted on social media that identified the student.
The background confirmed it was taken on school property and showed the teenager holding a gun. The student was also wearing the same clothing in the photo he was wearing at the time.
Officers and school staff went to the classroom where the student was located. After being asked to step outside of the room by a staff member, the teenager pulled away from police and ran down the hallway.
Authorities were able to pursue and arrest the student.
A Ruger P345, .45 handgun was found in the teenager’s pants. It was later determined to be stolen.
The boy is charged with possession of a gun by a person under the age of 18 and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
The teenager made his first court appearance on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the first count.
