MSP Airport expands security line reservation program to Terminal 1

Security lines may get a little easier to navigate at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport beginning Sept. 17.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which operates MSP Airport, has announced that its free security line reservation program is expanding to Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

The service allows travelers to reserve a place in the security line ahead of time. Passengers can make reservations now for flights from Sept. 17 on.

The service rolled out at Terminal 2 last May, with 50,000 reservations placed over the first year, according to the MAC. The airport is one of 18 across North America and Europe using the technology.

“Reserving a place in the security line can reduce wait time and add more certainty and peace of mind at the start of a traveler’s journey,” Scott Skramstad, director of terminal and landside operations for the MAC, says.

Reservations can be made up to seven days prior to a flight. Upon arrival, travelers scan a QR code with staff and get access to a separate security lane, only available at the airport’s north checkpoint.
