Shelter-in-place lifted after incident with armed man in West St. Paul

A shelter-in-place was lifted in West St. Paul on Thursday evening after police responded to a report of an armed man in a home with children.

According to a statement released by West St. Paul PD, 911 callers reported a man armed with a gun in the area of Emerson Avenue and Langer Circle.

When officers arrived, they were told the man was in a nearby home that may also have children inside. Officers were able to make contact with others in the home and get them out safely.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the blocks surrounding the home, but it was lifted when the suspect came out of the house unarmed.

Police were able to take him into custody with no injuries to anyone involved.
