Vikings QB Sam Darnold’s Injury Status Suddenly Changes Two Days Before Packers Game

The Minnesota Vikings have an updated injury status Friday for several key starters before their Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a knee bruise in the Vikings’ 34-7 win over the Houston Texans in Week 3. An MRI after the game showed Darnold had no structural damage.

Darnold was a full participant for all three days of practice this week.

Per Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Darnold and a few other key Vikings starters were taken off the injury report.

“Vikings WR Jordan Addison (ankle) is off the injury report and good to go Sunday at Green Bay,” Pelissero wrote. “QB Sam Darnold (knee), edge Dallas Turner (knee) and LT Christian Darrisaw (illness) also off the final injury report.”

Darnold’s update is good news for a 3-0 Vikings team that will face a Packers team that has won back-to-back games with backup quarterback Malik Willis.

Per Matt Schneidman with The Athletic, starting quarterback Jordan Love is expected to return on Sunday to start against the Vikings.
