Brooklyn Park police search for hit-and-run driver who struck 12-year-old girl

Police in Brooklyn Park are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a Wednesday hit-and-run that left a 12-year-old girl injured.

According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the girl was struck by a passing vehicle while crossing the road near the intersection of 63rd and Boone Avenues at around 8:42 a.m.

The vehicle was traveling west across 63rd Avenue from the Bass Creek Nnighborhood. The driver reportedly did not stop after the collision and fled the scene, continuing east on 63rd Avenue toward County Road 81.

The girl was left with “moderate injuries” and was taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to BPPD.

The department says the suspect was driving a white Hyundai Sonata from between 2015 and 2019. The car is missing its passenger side rearview mirror.
