The beloved and feared Haunted Basement is returning this month

The revered, reviled and revolting Haunted Basement is making a return in 2024.

The haunted house experience, which began at the Soap Factory (RIP) in 2006 and shuttered after its 2019 stint at the Rosedale Center , is back with what it’s calling a mini haunted house titled “The Rescuer’s Menagerie.”

The two-room, 18+ version of its deeply creepy experience will run from Oct. 17 through Nov. 2 at Bumbling Fools Meadery in Minneapolis , promising a reprisal of its “signature creativity and depravity” all created by artists.

The “mini-haunt” will feature the Rescuer telling the story of their travels and their phantasmic creations, all of which wind up as part of the menagerie.

While this is the first “haunt” from The Haunted Basement since 2019, the group hasn’t been inactive. It shot a film in 2020, did a pair of radio plays in 2021 as part of Twin Cities Horror Fest, and did a play for the same festival in 2022.

During Haunted Basement’s mini-haunt run this month, performances will take place on Thursdays (8–10 p.m.), Fridays, and Saturdays (7–10 p.m.). Tickets will cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door. However, if the popularity of its past installments is any guide, there may not be many tickets available at the door.
