Minneapolis police are searching for a driver involved in a crash that killed one person and injured another in front of the North Regional Library on Friday.
Officers responded to reports of a crash right before 4 a.m. in the 3200 block of Girard Avenue North. According to police, officers arrived to find a white Ford Taurus flipped over and a man lying on the ground near the vehicle with apparent life-threatening injuries.
Officers provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release his name and cause of death at a later time.
A second man was also injured in the crash and taken by paramedics to a hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Early information indicates that the Ford was going west on Lowry Avenue North and struck an unoccupied park vehicle, causing it to flip over. The driver managed to flee from the crash before officers arrived. Additional information gathered by investigators shows that the two men found at the scene were passengers in the Ford.
