Demonstrators march on U of M campus after pro-Palestine protesters arrested

Students, alumni, and faculty gathered at the University of Minnesota during an emergency rally on Tuesday in support of the 11 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested on Monday during their occupation of Morrill Hall.

The University of Minnesota saw another protest on its campus on Tuesday afternoon, organized by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), in response to the arrest of 11 pro-Palestinian protesters who are being held for occupying Morrill Hall.

The planned demonstration led to the University of Minnesota rescheduling a planned event with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former government infectious diseases expert, who was due to speak at the Northrup Auditorium.

Dozens of people marched on the campus, waving banners and carrying signs such as “Land Back means Free Palestine” and chanting for the school’s divestment from Israeli companies. Once protesters arrived at Morrill Hall, which is now closed through Wednesday, multiple people, including an associate professor at the university, went up as speakers.
