A Minneapolis man made his first court appearance Thursday on charges related to a shocking crime spree Tuesday that ended with one man shot dead and another injured in the Willmar area.
Ameer M. Matariyeh, 25, of Minneapolis, is charged in Kandiyohi County with 2nd-degree murder, attempted 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault and fleeing a police officer in connection with the incidents that transpired after Matariyeh allegedly fled Minneapolis.
Further charges related to the Lyn-Lake area incident are expected to follow in Hennepin County. There, Matariyeh is accused of opening fire on the balcony of an apartment complex.

According to the criminal complaint:
After Matariyeh had fled Minneapolis, authorities in Kandiyohi County began receiving information regarding an armed man behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle in the area at 1:53 p.m., just nine minutes before Matariyeh allegedly pulled into the rural driveway of a 25-year-old Lake Lillian man and shot him in the upper right shoulder.
