Police in Brooklyn Park are searching for a suspect after who was found armed with a gun inside a home on Thursday.
According to an alert from the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 1700 block of 73rd Avenue North at around 7:30 p.m.
“Upon returning home, residents discovered an armed suspect inside, who fled the scene after pointing a handgun at them,” Brooklyn Park PD said.
Law enforcement then set up a perimeter in the area and conducted a K-9 search, but a suspect was not found.
The suspect was described as a man standing at 5’9″ or 5’10” with a slim build and “beard-style facial hair.” He was reportedly wearing an all-black hoodie and black pants at the time of the burglary.
Earlier that day, BPPD says it also received reports of a man matching the suspect’s description looking into residential windows and trying door handles in the area of Newton Avenue North and Meadowwood Drive.
“In light of these incidents, Brooklyn Park Police are urging residents in the area to ensure that all windows and doors are securely locked,” the alert read.
