Triple shooting leaves two dead in latest Minneapolis homeless encampment attack

A triple shooting at a Minneapolis homeless encampment on Sunday left two men dead and a woman severely injured.

It marks the second shooting at a Minneapolis homeless encampments in as many days, with another triple shooting reported early Saturday leaving one man dead and two injured near 21st Street East and 15th Avenue South.

For Sunday’s incident, Minneapolis police were called at 2:21 p.m. to a small homeless encampment located along the railroad tracks on the 4400 block between Hiawatha and Snelling Avenue. They arrived to find the three victims severely injured, with the two men dying at the scene and the woman hospitalized.

Homicide investigators are working to figure out what led to the shooting and the possibility of suspects who left the scene on foot. Three men were initially detained but were cleared and released. MPD has not ruled out the possibility that this incident and the Saturday shooting are related.

At this time, there have been no arrests in either incident.
