One found dead after houseboat fire in St. Paul Park

One person was killed in a houseboat fire at a marina in St. Paul Park early Friday.

The fire broke out on a houseboat at Hidden Harbor Marina just before 2 a.m., and then spread to another houseboat, which was safely evacuated.

After extinguishing the fire, the St. Paul Park Fire Department says the remains of one resident was found in the houseboat where the fire started.

“It was pretty huge and they were unfortunately not able to respond quick enough,” St. Paul Park Chief Jessica Danberg told WCCO.

The cause of the fire currently under investigation.
