Pedestrian killed by driver in Maplewood identified as 17-year-old

The pedestrian killed by an SUV driver in Maplewood early Monday morning has been identified as a 17-year-old boy.

The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that Heriberto Severino-Luna, 17, of Maplewood, died after being struck by a Kia Sportage southbound on Hwy. 61 near Hwy. 36 at 5:45 a.m.

The 30-year-old man driving the SUV was uninjured, while Severino-Luna died at the scene.

The crash report confirms that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.
