Governor Walz vows crackdown on fraud

(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Tim Walz says there will be a significant package of fraud prevention measures for lawmakers to consider next session. His comments follow reports of raids by federal agents on autism treatment centers in Minneapolis and St. Cloud this past week in an investigation into allegations of Medicaid claims fraud. The search warrants listed offenses including wire fraud, healthcare fraud and conspiracy. The investigation followed a probe into the 240-million dollar Feeding Our Future scandal. One of the centers — Smart Therapy — has received almost 14-million dollars in state Medicaid funding and another center received nearly six-million dollars.
