Altercations can take place in many forms, but the presence of a firearm escalates things quickly. While the Minnesota Gophers are well into their bowl preparation , a former student athlete had his life flash before his eyes.
Gophers former recruit Trill Carter takes a bullet
Trill Carter was a three-star recruit out of Georgia and joined P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota Gophers for the 2019 season. After starting 31 games, he transferred to Texas and then to Auburn. Out in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday the defensive lineman was struck outside of a condo development.
“I’m good. I’m OK. I can walk and everything. I really don’t want to get into too much detail about it.”
It would seem as though a disagreement took place with the incident happening in a residential parking lot. Carter declined to provide details, but the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has an open investigation.
Carter recorded 40 tackles with the Gophers during his time at Minnesota. He accumulated three sacks and picked off a pass. With the Longhorns and Tigers, Carter put up just 12 total tacks and recorded a single sack. He is hanging up his cleats as well.
