House fire in Maple Grove confined to 1 room

The Maple Grove Police Department and Maple Grove Fire Stations 2 and 3 were dispatched just after 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 to a house fire in the 12600 block of 92nd Place. The fire was reported to be in the utility room.

Police arrived and knocked the fire back with portable fire extinguishers. Captain Carlos Davila (acting Chief 5) arrived at a split level home with smoke coming from the garage. Engine 31 and firefighters arrived and commenced fire attack and primary search with a water extinguisher and handline.

Engine 21 with additional firefighters arrived and were assigned water supply, ventilation, and search of the second floor. Assistant Chief Chris Baker arrived and was assigned the Alpha Division.

The fire was fully extinguished quickly with crews remaining on scene to overhaul. Fire damage was confined to one room of the home, with smoke throughout. Deputy Fire Marshals Eric Lind and Jesse Navin responded for the fire investigation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Maple Grove Fire Department reminds everyone to ensure they have working smoke detectors on all levels of their home and in all sleeping areas.
