Metro Transit ‘s new pricing model is now in effect.
The lower fares for public transit around the Twin Cities kicked in on Jan. 1, introducing one flat fare that stays the same all day, every day of the year, with a couple of exceptions.
The new standard adult fare is now $2. Senior, youth, and Medicare pricing is now $1 every day. The new flat fare fees do not apply to express buses, Northstar commuter train, and Metro micro rides.
That price change eliminates rush hour charges on non-express service, including light rail fares.
Additionally, all-day passes now cost $2-$4, seven-day passes are $20, and Metro Mobility-certified riders get one-cent rides on Metro Transit and other regional transit providers through June 30.
