Asphalt firm accused of demanding ‘outrageous’ prices upon completion ordered to shut down

An asphalt company will dissolve as part of a settlement with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, who took action after allegations it delivered “subpar” work and demanded “outrageously inflated prices multiple times in excess of what was initially quoted.”

The AG’s office announced a settlement this week with Brandon Michael Ferguson, who has agreed to dissolve his company, Community Blacktop, LLC, and pay $100,000 to the State of Minnesota in restitution for “victimized consumers.”

Community Blacktop, which went by several other names, was accused of victimizing Minnesota consumers, in particular “targeting the elderly,” by offering high quality asphalt work at discount prices, only to deliver poor results and then demand payments well in excess of what was initially quoted…
