Gas leak closes part of Highway 52

Two families were forced to evacuate from their homes in the southern Twin Cities metro due to a gas leak Wednesday afternoon.

The Rosemount Fire Department says around 2:41 p.m., crews discovered the leak after receiving several reports of a possible brush fire on the 15100 block of Highway 52. Responders were able to identify the leak was coming from a propane line owned by Flint Hill Resources.

As a result of the leak, Highway 52 closed in both directions between Clayton Avenue and 145th Street East for several hours. The southbound lanes are back open to traffic as of 10:30 p.m. Northbound traffic remains closed and is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday…
